Review by Brian Moore, 2010-02-08
I just bought this book early in 2010 .. this book as is very detailed and covers most every variation of a simple car body repair that has ever been dreamt up and is written for the simple man and not just for the auto trade repairers although I am sure they would have been happy with abook like this when they were starting out, yes you will need to have the right tools and experience always helps but this book gives you all sorts of tips to keep your repair on track even if you are not super proficient with the equipment, this is a very good book for the home repaired who wants to restore their old rusting cars but one thing lacking is that it won't teach you all the tricks of the auto painting trade so if you are looking towards respraying etc there are better books about that cover that .. I also have the Haynes paint and body repair manual but am very happy that I have the Chilton's body repair manual as it covers many areas of body repair that are not discussed in the Haynes offering, both books are easily understood and readable but if I had to only keep one then I would want o keep the Chilton's .. someone mentioned in a review somewhere that this manual is specific to certain models of car but that is untrue; this book is a generalised guide so applies to all cars .. the fact that it is a few years old doesn't matter at all as most all of the theory and products are still relevant .. I am happy that I grabbed a copy before they all dissapeared as this is the manual I will definitely be keeping till I kick the bucket or cars become obsolete ..
